March Meeting Notes

Here is the recap of yesterday's meeting:

Easter - We made Easter/Spring cards for Cards for Hospitalized Kids.  Thank you for helping with this!

Accio Books - The HPA's annual book drive, Accio Books, runs April 2 through May 31, meaning it is right around the corner!  We have a goal for our chapter of 100 books.  Books can be donated locally or shipped to the HPA's main donation site, Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City, MO.

Also, the HPA is having an Accio Books-themed fundraiser, Friends of the Apparating Library.  FoTAL runs until March 21, so check it out and claim some cool geeky perks if you are interested!  http://igg.me/at/apparate/x/1159661

Scarves for Veterans - We are still knitting and crocheting away!

Next Meeting - Our next meeting will be Saturday April 18.

January Meeting Notes

At our meeting yesterday, we discussed projects that we would like to do in the next few months.  Here is what we have lined up:

Sweets For Seniors - Next month we will be giving some Valentine's treats to the residents of Fair Acres Nursing Home.

Knit Your Bit - This is a project put together by the National WWII Museum that makes scarves for veterans.  Here is their website for all of the details:  http://www.nationalww2museum.org/learn/knit-your-bit/  Our chapter will be working on this for several months so that we can get a nice collection of scarves to send.

Accio Books - We will be participating in the HPA's annual book drive, Accio Books, in April and May.  We will be collecting books for both kids and adults.

Food Drive

Our chapter collected food for the Delco Interfaith Food Assistance Network.  DIFAN is a network of churches throughout Delco that also serve as food banks for those in need.

This project was inspired by the HPA's Odds In Our Favor campaign.  Things like food and hunger don't just exist in books and movies.  They are very real issues that effect people in our own community.  Our food drive was just a small thing, but we hope it can help those battling food insecurity in our area.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the food drive!
