HPA For The Win!

The Harry Potter Alliance is participating in the Chase Community Giving Challenge, http://bit.ly/hpaftw. Please vote for the HPA! We are currently in first place, which is amazing, but we still have a long way to go in this competition. The HPA has done some incredible things and winning this funding could enable us to do even more. Please vote! http://bit.ly/hpaftw. Then after you vote, tell everyone you know to go vote for the HPA. HPA for the win!

June Meeting Notes

Our June meeting was this past Saturday. Here is what we talked about:

Magical Acts of Warmth - We are continuing with this project through the end of the summer. We are knitting "snuggles" for the Snuggles Project (www.snugglesproject.org) and afghan squares for Warm Up America (www.warmupamerica.org).

TerraCycle - We are collecting candy wrappers for TerraCycle. By doing this, we are recycling as well as fundraising for the HPA.

Craft Fair - We plan on participating in a craft fair in the fall to raise money for the HPA and Firefly (www.fireflykidz.org). We are crafting away for this.

HPAFTW - http://bit.ly/hpaftw Have you voted yet? Click that link and vote! It's so easy and only takes a few seconds!

Wrock the Vote - Wizard Rock the Vote is very similar to the traditional Rock the Vote campaign. We are not sure exactly how we will be participating in this HPA campaign, but we definitely do plan on participating and registering people to vote.

Next Meeting - Our next meeting is Saturday July 24th.

Dumbledore's Army of Delaware County is a chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance. To learn more about the HPA in general, please visit www.thehpalliance.org. May Meeting Notes

We had our May meeting yesterday, and here is what we discussed:

Change Drive for Haiti - Our change drive for Haitian earthquake relief is officially over. Once we visit the bank's coin-counting machine, we will post an update with our grand total. If you were not able to participate in our chapter's change drive but want to support Partners In Health, you can do so at www.standwithhaiti.org.

Magical Acts of Warmth - This project is going well. We are knitting snuggles for The Snuggles Project (www.snugglesproject.org) and afghan squares for Warm Up America (www.warmupamerica.org). We are going to continue with this project throughout the summer.

Herbology/Environment - Because Herbology is such a cool subject, we are going to be doing an environmental project. We are going to be collecting candy wrappers for TerraCycle (www.terracycle.net). TerraCycle collects items/wrappers that are not recyclable and remakes them into new items, which are sold at national stores.

Craft Fair - We are going to be participating in a craft fair in the fall. We are doing this as a fundraiser for the Harry Potter Alliance (www.thehpalliance.org) and the Firefly Foundation (www.fireflykidz.org).

Next Meeting - Our next meeting will be Saturday June 19th.
